| This style of messaging can be sent at a standard message rate which will cost the taxi company a few pence each message or they can be sent reverse billed which will automatically charge the mobile phone bill of the passenger. |

Inbound SMS gateway |
| The inbound message gateway is a box with a cellular sim in it. This sim has a private cellular phone number that can be used to send or receive texts, its main purpose is to act as an inbound message handler so that customers can use their mobile phones to send in a request for a taxi. This request then appears on the despatchers screen where it can be accepted or rejected as a job. |
| The inbound SMS gateway will also act as a backup to GPRS data systems in the event of a GPRS failure or a failure of the internet connection to the server |
